| Analyst |
| |
Type of Role :
An analyst is the entry-level job for Professionals joining the management cadre. An analyst will usually have done a BMS or BFM course or similar and will have a basic understanding of the workings of an Investment bank. As an analyst you will work with a team of 3-4 senior team members on various transactions.
Next Level career Movement :
Typically the analyst will spend 2-3 years in this position, being given more and more responsibility in any transaction. Most analysts leave to complete their MBA after 2/3 years with the company and are eligible to be taken back as Associates when they have finished their MBA's
Reporting to : Associate
Key Job Responsibilities:
Broadly speaking an Analyst’s day will consist of, presentations, analysis and administrative tasks. Presentation work involves the putting together and writing of various PowerPoint presentations including marketing documents (“Pitch books” “ Teasers “and IM’s) and documents for live transactions. As an analyst you are expected to contribute ideas, opinions and new information. Analysts work on research assignments, background information gathering and basic analysis of the data as required by the Associate. Analysts are also tasked with the preparation of Industry reports and news updates.
Performance Indicator:
An analyst must have a combination of analytic skills, excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.

| Associate |

Type of Role :
An Associate at Avista is usually an MBA (Finance) CA/CFA or having completed a Masters course in a related field. An associate can be a fresher or come with 1-2 years experience. As an Associate at Avista you will work closely with a small team of three to four people. The team will usually consist of a Managing Director, Vice President, Sr. Associate, Associate and an Analyst.
Next Level career Movement :
You can expect to spend at least three years as an associate being given increasing levels of responsibility as you demonstrate your ability to perform complex analysis and superior communication skills. From an Associate you can progress to the position of a Senior Associate if you have shown advanced problem solving ability, interpersonal and communication skills.
Reporting to : Senior Associate
Key Job Responsibilities :
As an associate you will be working on live transactions and will work closely with the Sr. Associate. The associate is responsible for the key document like Pitch Books, IM’s etc. You will also assist the Sr. Associate in undertaking various financial analysis and financial modeling. You should expect to spend time gathering and analyzing data, problem solving with your team, and interacting with client team members. While Associates are not expected to bring in deals, they should be able to answer clients’ questions in meetings (especially on the technical side) and lead meetings in working group during the execution phase of a deal.
Performance Indicator :
An Associate should have an ability to perform complex analysis and should posses superior communication skills, advanced problem solving ability, interpersonal skills, accuracy & precision in work and should be able to perform within a given time frame.

| Senior Associate |

Type of Role :
A Senior Associate at Avista is usually an internal promotion, someone who has spent at least three years at the Associate position or an MBA (Finance) CA/CFA or having completed a Masters course in a related field with 4 -5 years of relevant experience.
Next Level career Movement :
You can expect to spend at least three to four years as an Senior associate being given increasing levels of responsibility as you demonstrate your ability to work under pressure, ability to manage multiple projects and ability to work independently as well as part of a team . From a Senior Associate you can progress to the position of an Associate Vice President if you have shown ability in initiating new contacts, added value to deal closure and the number of deals closed.

Key Job Responsibilities :
Sr. Associates are expected to play an active leadership role during every phase of the deal execution process, and are encouraged to handle a high level of responsibility on transaction teams. As a Sr. Associate you will take an active role in all aspects of an engagement - including the initial pitch, due diligence, preparing a written prospectus or memorandum, and meeting with potential investors/buyers, negotiating key terms, closing the deal and maintaining the client relationship
Performance Indicator :
From being a Sr. Associate you can move to the next level of responsibility if you have demonstrated a top executive mind-set, you stay ahead of the problem, lead the problem solving process proactively, leverage the company’s knowledge resources, and motivate the client to take action. |

| Associate Vice President |

When, as a Sr. Associate you are ready for the next level of responsibility, you can become an Associate Vice President. As an Associate Vice President you will play an expanded leadership role on client service teams. You will act as project manager, assuming primary responsibility for structuring the problem solving process, assigning work, coaching team members, and managing day-to-day interactions with clients. You are responsible for assigning specific tasks to the team and making sure that the deliverables are scheduled and presented on time.
As you demonstrate greater focus on project management, building teams, leading the problem solving process, providing coaching and feedback, and building client relationships you will graduate to the position of Vice President. |

| Vice President |
| |
The primary role of the Vice President is to be the “project manager,” whether for marketing activities or on a transaction. It is the VP that typically decides the structure of the presentation (e.g. a pitchbook). On live engagements, the VP typically runs the deal. The VP must manage the client, manage the senior bankers and manage the Analysts and Associates that are actually doing the work. As a Vice President you will begin to split your time among multiple engagements, rather than working on one engagement at a time. At the same time, you will become involved in client development and participate in most office and business decision-making. You will also continue to develop in-depth expertise in a specific area. Another major role of Vice President is to lead the execution, under the guidance of senior bankers.
The role of Vice President has been created to accelerate the development of exceptional people, offering them a greater measure of mentorship. As you develop the confidence to lead a peer relationship with client executives and learn through this relationship how to improve a client organization's performance you will progress to the position of Director. |

Vice Presidents who become Directors have demonstrated their superior ability to lead and inspire consulting teams, manage every phase of an engagement, coach and mentor colleagues, and contribute to knowledge. Directors build relationships with clients, and pursue a balance of depth and breadth in their professional interests. As a Director you will be operationally and functionally responsible for one of the verticals of the company. |

Associate Directors who become Managing Partners have demonstrated superior ability to lead and inspire teams, manage every phase of an engagement, coach and mentor colleagues, contribute to knowledge, and provide senior counsel to our clients. As a Managing Partner you will function in much the same way Executive Directors do, to build relationships with clients, and pursue a balance of depth and breadth in their professional interests. Managing Partners assume the added responsibility for building new client relationships. |
